Arbitrage-specific risks
Arbitrage is often described as risk-free. It is not. Prices can move between placing the first and second leg, leaving you exposed on one side. Sportsbooks can void bets, change lines, delay settlement, cap stakes or limit and close accounts that arb consistently. Exchanges can halt trading, or resolve markets in ways you did not expect, and two markets that look identical can resolve differently on a technicality. Fees, rounding, minimum stakes and thin liquidity reduce or eliminate the profit a calculator shows. Promotions come with terms that can turn a locked profit into a loss if you miss them. You can lose money on any position, including all of the money you stake.
The scanner is a tool, not a promise
The scanner reports prices as venues publish them, and those prices can be stale, wrong or gone by the time you act. It can miss opportunities and it can show opportunities that do not fill. Alerts are not instructions. Check every price yourself before you commit money.
